Explore Ifrane and Azrou. Ifrane is a city in the Middle Atlas region of Morocco. In Tamazight, the regional Berber language, “Ifran” means caves. The city feels like Switzerland with its clean air, scrubbed streets and leafy outlook. During winter it is the most popular ski destination in Morocco.

What to Expect:

Drive to Ifrane, referred to as “the Switzerland of Morocco” via the cedar forest and begin your day adventure to Ifrane and Azrou. In Ifrane, drive by the Al Akhawayn University, built in 1995 by King Hassan II of Morocco and King Fah of Saadia Arabia. Visit the city, where you will see the iconic Stone Lion carved by a German soldier during the 2nd world war that many tourists take pictures next to. Visit the Marché or souq, where the locals buy their supplies. Continue the journey over the Middle Atlas Mountains to Azrou, a Berber village, visit the cedar forest and observe the Barbary Apes and feed them peanuts and have a photo opportunity. Have lunch at a local restaurant before driving back to Fez in the afternoon.
